After a horrid few weeks of grey, bleak weather, the sun has been kind to us this week, and it’s set to continue in to the weekend! Yup, prepare yourself for the same old spiel –  open your arms and welcome in the summer, get out and make the most of it etc. It is June after all. Here are our recommendations of the best things you can get up to in London this weekend.

What the heck: If you’re a football fan, or just a fan of fun, the Euro2016 Thames Opening Party is one of our top picks of things to do this weekend. Hop aboard Bar & Co and enjoy the kick off of Euro2016 with France playing Romania. Bar & Co have two massive outdoor screens and several more inside in the bar, as well as a hearty BBQ and a free drink to get the good times rolling this Friday.

What the heck: “Three actors. Two hours. One dead playwright. And probably some tights.” The complete works of William Shakespeare, all thirty seven of the Bard’s works rolled in to what is certain to be a ridiculous two hours. Burn Bright Theatre will dramatise all the Tragedies, Comedies and Histories in this whirlwind performance in celebration of 400 years of Shakespeare. Suitable for all audiences.

3. Pop Fields at Pop Brixton

What the heck: Another one for sports/fun fans! Pop Brixton has its opening  of Pop Fields this weekend. Pop Fields is an initiative to encourage people to enjoy and get involved in sports. It will feature an all-weather pitch that will be open and free to use throughout the summer, as well as showing all major sporting fixtures this summer, starting with Euro2016 this weekend and continuing in to the summer screening everything from Rio to Wimbledon.

What the heck: Free Range returns, showcasing the best work from Art & Design students around the UK. With work from over 3000 new creative graduates, Free Range is the perfect platform for up and coming artists and designers to showcase their work, and for us other folk to go and soak it up and enjoy the talent. There is a whole range of work from high fashion designs to sculpture, so you’re bound to find something inspirational.

What the heck: A recommendation of things to do this weekend would not be complete without a nod to Queen Lizzie as we celebrate her birthday (again!) On Saturday, the Household Division will parade from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guard’s Parade and back again through Whitehall to mark the 90th Birthday of her Majesty. Get your best royal Sunday best on and get down to salute the troops.
